Questions we tend to get
The honest answers to what couples ask us most often.
These are the questions that come up in the first video call almost every time. We put the answers here so the call can be about the wedding instead.

Before the questions start
Most of what you want to know is small and answered quickly.
The studio is two people. The answers below are the ones we give on the first call, almost every time. We put them here so the call can be about your wedding — venue, light, timing — instead of about backup procedures and travel quotes.
On travel and destinations
Yes — we shoot away from home a few times a year.
We have shot fourteen weddings outside our home region since 2018, in five countries. Out-of-state work is quoted with a flat travel-and-lodging line; international weddings include a per-country research line for venue scouting and a short scout visit when the wedding is large enough to justify one.
- Destinations shot
- 14 weddings, 5 countries
- Continental travel
- Quoted as a flat line
- International travel
- Flat line + research fee
- Scouting visit
- Included for large international weddings
On backup and care
Your wedding lives in three places before the cards are reformatted.
Every body writes to two card slots in parallel through the day. Within twenty-four hours of getting home, we make three copies before any card is reused: a working drive, a cold backup on a separate physical drive, and an encrypted off-site cloud archive.
On editing style
True to the day’s light, not a filter that flatters it.
Skin tones natural. Mid-tones a touch warmer than neutral. Whites held back from blowing out. We do not run the muted, desaturated “filmic” treatment that has dominated the field for the last few years. We think it ages quickly and reads as a costume. The full gallery looks like the wedding looked.
- Color treatment
- Warm-neutral, low contrast lift
- Black and white
- About 10% of any gallery
- Heavy retouching
- Only on portrait selects, on request
- Skin softening
- Off by default
On video, second shooters, and the rest
A few last things that come up often enough to put here.
The studio shoots photo only. We do not shoot video, and we do not bundle a videographer into our packages, because we are not in a position to manage a craft we do not practice. We are happy to introduce you to two videographers we have worked alongside for years.
